Congratulations to NITheCS Associate Prof Karin-Therese Howell on her appointment as the new Director of AIMS South Africa, effective 1 December 2025. She succeeds Prof Ulrich Paquet, who is stepping down after a highly successful and impactful term of leadership.

NITheCS was pleased to participate in AI Expo Africa 2025, held from 28–29 October 2026 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg. NITheCS rewards innovators at 45th Eskom Expo
NITheCS participated in the 45th Eskom Expo for Young Scientists International Science Fair, held at Emperors Palace Conference Centre in Kempton Park on 9–10 October 2025. The event brought together some of South Africa’s most promising young minds to celebrate scientific excellence and innovation across a wide range of disciplines. During the Special Awards Ceremony, Mr Aluwani Guga presented laptops on behalf of NITheCS to four school learners who demonstrated outstanding creativity, innovation and scientific rigour in their respective research projects.
