NITheCS attends AI Expo Africa 2025
NITheCS was pleased to participate in AI Expo Africa 2025, held from 28–29 October 2026 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg. The expo brought together industry leaders, researchers, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to explore the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence in Africa.
Prof Francesco Petruccione, Director of NITheCS, and Dr Yaseera Ismail, Senior Lecturer at Stellenbosch University and Head of the QuPhotonics Lab, delivered track talks during the event. Prof Petruccione presented on 'Quantum Inspired Algorithms for a Classical World' while Dr Ismail shared the speaker's platform with Jiang Shichang from CAS Quantum Network Co. Ltd, contributing to discussions on emerging quantum technologies.
Their participation highlighted NITheCS’ role in advancing AI- and quantum-related research, capacity development, and international collaboration.
NITheCS’ presence at the expo reinforced the institute’s commitment to supporting cutting-edge research and technological innovation. The event also provided valuable opportunities to engage with industry partners, government stakeholders, and academic collaborators who share a vision for Africa’s AI-driven future.
