FDL Foundations Africa Big Think Workshop

For over a decade, Frontier Development Lab (FDL.ai) has been unlocking the potential of applied AI in space and Earth sciences. In partnership with SANSA, SARAO, DARA, NITheCS, UCT, and the Foundation for Space Development Africa we are looking to explore applications in Earth systems, climate, and environmental resilience across the continent as part of FDL Foundations. This programme aims to leverage the democratising power of foundation models and agentic systems as a powerful amplifier of AI progress, and specifically focus on development of downstream applications for the African context. 

This initial programme scoping workshop brings together interdisciplinary experts, local stakeholders and industry partners to explore potential research challenges and roadmap to delivery of the FDL Foundations research sprint in late-2026.
