Application deadline: 3 November 2023
The Centre for Space Research at North-West University is inviting applications for a postdoctoral position in cosmology. Candidates must have a PhD in astronomy, astrophysics, physics or applied mathematics with a specialisation in computational astrophysics and/or cosmology. Candidates must have obtained their PhD not more than 5 years before the starting date of the appointment. The successful candidate is expected to conduct research on cosmological simulations of large-scale structure formation and evolution. The candidate will be expected to actively contribute to the research team’s activities, which include the timely publication of research findings and postgraduate student mentoring. The expected starting date is 1 January 2024, but the position will remain open until a suitably qualified candidate is found.
The appointment will be initially for three years and may be extended to up to 2 years, depending on exceptional performance and availability of funds. Interested applicants should send a CV, a list of publications, a statement of research experience and interests, and arrange for three letters of reference to be sent to Prof Amare Abebe (AmareAbebe.Gidelew@nwu.ac.za) by 3 November 2023. Selected candidates will be invited for an interview.
