Dr Martin Weigt (Nelson Mandela University)
Prof Martin Weigt is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Nelson Mandela University. His research focuses on functional analysis, particularly operator algebras, topological algebras and unbounded operators, with applications to the mathematical foundations of quantum mechanics and quantum field theory. He also takes an interest in astronomy.
Prof Weigt obtained his BSc, BSc Honours and MSc in Mathematics from Stellenbosch University and his PhD in Mathematics from the University of Cape Town in 2008. He holds a C2 rating from the National Research Foundation (NRF).
