Application deadline: 30 June 2025
This position, based at UJ’s Auckland Park Kingsway Campus, offers an exciting opportunity to engage in both physics analysis and experimental work. The research focus includes modern sensor technology, high-throughput and big data processing, data visualization, machine learning, and their applications in medicine and industry. The project also explores interfaces with venture capital and the market, with potential for generating and registering new intellectual property. Current physics analyses of interest include VBF Higgs to invisible, and H/additional scalar S → ZdZd/ZZd → 4 leptons / 2l2j / 2l2v. The position is funded for up to three years, subject to annual renewal based on mutual agreement and university requirements. Candidates interested in academic development may also engage in teaching and student supervision. Applicants should hold a completed PhD in Engineering or Physics, with strong aptitude for coding in C++ and Python. The review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. The fellowship offers a non-taxable stipend of R250,000 per year, includes full support for a three-month annual visit to CERN, and covers the CERN authorship fee.
