Details

In this talk, we show how tools from quantum information theory can give us a clearer picture of this process than standard statistical methods.

We present two new approaches to tracking neutrino evolution. The first examines how a neutrino's quantum state spreads out and becomes more complex over time. This approach turns out to be excellent at capturing the subtle differences between how matter and antimatter behave.

The second approach measures the quantum entanglement between the different neutrino states. We show that if we look for the exact points where this entanglement drops to a minimum, we find the "sweet spots" where we can extract the maximum amount of precise information.

When we apply this strategy to the data from leading long-distance neutrino experiments like T2K and NOvA, it dramatically sharpens our measurements, clears up previous ambiguities, and helps explain why different experiments have sometimes produced conflicting results.
